Ghalya Saadawi is an independent writer currently based in Beirut. She lectures part-time at the American University of Beirut and the University of St. Joseph, Lebanon where she teaches art theory and introduction to post-civil war Lebanese art. Her essays and reviews have appeared in Bidoun, Art in America, Ibraaz, Frieze, Third Text, Jadaliyya among other publications, artist’ monographs and edited volumes. She is currently completing a PhD in Sociology at Goldsmiths, University of London where she writes on the changing figure of the witness as it is wedded to post-war art and politics in the context of Lebanon.
