Maraya Art Park, Sharjah: Call for Proposals

Deadline: September 15, 2013

The Maraya Art Park is proud to launch an open call for young emerging artists living and working in the the UAE and Gulf region to submit design proposals for public art projects that focus on the themes of ecology and sustainable art and design. Interested artists should email a 500 word proposal with images and a current CV. Applications will be accessed by Maraya Art Centre’s senior management, curatorial team and a jury composed of three external art and design experts. Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an in person or Skype interview to discuss their projects in more detail. Open Call: Curator in Residency

98weeks is launching a new public programming initiative giving individuals, collectives or organizations the chance to develop a series of events focused on a chosen research theme. The curator in residency will develop public programming such as workshops, talks, exhibitions and performances over a 3 to 6 months period, in close dialogue with 98weeks’ work and operating model.

The Caspian Arts Foundation Scholarship 2013-14

The Caspian Arts Foundation Scholarship is awarded to students ordinarily resident in countries situated in the Middle East and the North African Regions who display an exceptional talent, and whose development as an artist and designer would most benefit from postgraduate study at one of the University of the Arts London’s Colleges.

One Scholarship is available for a student ordinarily resident in a country situated in the Middle East and North African regions. The Scholarship is worth £25,000 and course fees will be paid directly from the award to the University’s Tuition Fees account. The remaining funds will be paid to the Scholarship holder as maintenance support for the duration of the course.

Open Society Foundations: Audience Engagement Grant

The Audience Engagement Grant supports photographers to take an existing body of work on a social justice or human rights issue and devise an innovative and effective way of using that work as a tool for social change. We are looking for projects that serve as interventions on pressing problems and provide concrete ways for photographers, organizations, and their target audiences to create a positive impact.

We are interested in well-designed projects that:
- inspire audiences visually and create meaningful interactions with photographic content
- utilize photography as the basis for programming or tools that move people beyond the act of looking and directly involve them in activities or processes that lead to concrete forms of social change
- provide deeper, more nuanced understanding of human rights and social justice issues
- pairs photographers with organizations that are currently working on related issues and connected to the target audience

We will provide between five to eight grants ranging from $10,000 to $30,000. Grant funds cannot be used to shoot new imagery. When selected projects closely align with the work of the Open Society Foundations, we will facilitate contact with relevant foundation staff and grantees.

The Watermill Center & ArteEast 2014 Residency Program

The Cord Prize

The Cord Prize is an international contemporary art award established to support and acknowledge the practice of early and mid-career visual artists. The award comprises an individual first prize of $10,000, second prize of $1,000 and third prize of $500. Additionally, twenty-two artists will be selected for online exhibition and a piece of writing will be commissioned from the award jurors The inaugural edition of this twice-annual prize is focused on contemporary art photography, with future awards alternating focus on specific disciplines, with curated themes and critical surveys.

FUTURGARDE AWARD

FUTURGARDE AWARD is a newly created prize for support and promotion of most interesting and promising living artists from all around the world. We are looking for innovative and exceptional works of art showing unique creative practices, ideas and personalities. We are looking for art which can influence and change viewer's way of thinking and perception. There are no restrictions of media, style, age or location. All styles are eligible.

An international group of 20 creative professionals (art critics, curators, collectors and established artists) will evaluate the proposals considering their conceptual and visual quality and artistic maturity.

Triangle Arts Association: Triangle Residency

Triangle Residency is offering spacious studios for artists to realize large-scale, long-term projects and provides a collegial working environment. Studio residents are chosen yearly based upon a competitive portfolio submission application that is reviewed by a jury of New York based arts professionals and Triangle board members and staff. Each artist’s stay culminates in an Open Studio exhibition to which the general public is invited. Resident artists will also receive studio visits from critics, writers and curators.

The Institut Français du Maroc: Art Residencies in Morocco

The Institut Français du Maroc calls for applications for creative residencies 2014 in various sites across Morocco.

The Institut français du Maroc covers transport, accommodation, and 200 DH per day during the residency. A financial support for the creation of a specific project can be additionally requested. The duration is to be defined according to disposability of the site and project requirements. Eligibility: Priority will be given to Moroccan artists and intellectuals, residents in the country or abroad. But it is also open to artists from other countries, in particular from the francophone regions.

The Kala Fellowship Award International Competition

The Kala Fellowship award is an international competition open to artists from the U.S. and around the world. Artists producing innovative work in book arts, electronic/digital media (video, sound, animation, etc.), installation art, social practice, photography, and printmaking are encouraged to apply. .

The Kala Fellowship Program annually grants nine artists a cash award, unlimited access to Kala’s facilities for up to six months, one Kala class, and a culminating show in the Kala Gallery. The award is geared towards supporting artists in completing specific projects or bodies of work that would benefit from Kala's specialized equipment in printmaking and digital media.

Invitation to Young Talents to apply for a scholarship

The Braunschweig University of Art is an internationally orientated art university with the right to grant doctorates and the right of habilitation. With 1200 students in Fine Arts, Design as well as Aesthetics & Art History and Media Studies, the Braunschweig University of Art is one of the largest art academies in Europe. These scholarships are part of the university’s programmes for the promotion of young artistic talents. The involvement of the scholars in the HBK’s teaching and research activities is an essential component of the university’s programmes for the promotion of young talents. The project to be proposed by the applicant must constitute a material contribution to the ongoing development of the means of artistic expression.

PUMA Impact Award

PUMA is accepting film submissions for its PUMA Impact Award, which is an annual €50,000 award which celebrates the documentary film that has made the most positive impact on society or the environment. Your film must be feature length - 75mins or longer in duration. The film must have been screened at a film festival or on television. Films can be put forward any time up to 3 years after release. That means any feature length film is eligible which was released on or after 1st January 2010 (where release is defined as first film festival screening, TV broadcast or cinema release). Films can apply in successive years but only be selected to be a finalist once.

Call for Submissions:Season of Sculpture Festival

RBPMW Studio Immersion Project

Studio Immersion Project (SIP) is an intensive 3 month studio fellowship designed to immerse artists in the world of printmaking. SIP Fellows will acquire new techniques and build upon existing skills. Artists, from all media, interested in making printmaking a regular part of their creative practice are invited to apply. A SIP fellowship is ideal for artists with a developed studio practice and career experience.

Building Bridges: Campus Community Engagement grants

The Association of Performing Arts Presenters announces the Building Bridges: Campus Community Engagement grants program to follow upon the accomplishments and lessons learned from the Creative Campus Innovations grants program established in January 2006. Building Bridges supports U.S.-based performing arts presenting organizations interested in building interdisciplinary cross-campus and community collaborations that expand awareness, knowledge and understanding of Muslim societies.
