Saudi Arabian artist Sami Al Turki was born in 1984 to a multi cultural family with an Irish mother and a Saudi Arabian father. He was raised in Jeddah and currently lives and works in Dubai.  

His impressions of his home country, Saudi Arabia, and of his current city of residence, Dubai, are the driving forces behind his concepts and visions. Al Turki’s eclectic and varied style is a reflection of both his diverse cultural upbringing and the juxtaposition of occidental versus oriental in many societies in the Middle East.
 
The Washaeg series hints at a world with an apocalyptic vision for global culture. Al Turki’s lens captures a void, which had once been adorned with majestic structures, but is now spotted with fortified walls encircling nothingness.
