Lamya Gargash: My Father's House

Having exhibited extensively in the Middle East and in London, My Father’s House moves to Liverpool as part of the Arabic Arts Festival. This photographic project features works with architectural motifs that explore the role and value of cultural heritage, and includes a public photographic exhibition with specially-commissioned pieces and work by emerging artists from the Middle East and UK, including Lamya Gargash.

This year’s festival investigates themes of history and change. Conceived before the recent Arab spring revolutions, yet responding to the new political landscape, artists were invited with works that reflects deeply on the position of the individual within competing discourses of politics, identities, geographies and religions.
