ArteEast presents artists Basmah Felemban and Poonam Jain in conversation with curator Sarah El Adl. Exploring the specificities of their practices—Islamic geometry and Jain mathematics—they will discuss the experience of the art residency as a subject of learning, un-learning, and transformation; with all the subjectivities of cultural expectation, misogyny and the market.
Poonam Jain (b. 1989) is an artist based in Bombay; Basmah Felemban (b. 1993) is an artist and designer living Jeddah. Sara El Adl is a curator and writer, currently working with Gypsum Gallery in Cairo.
