Yalda 2024 – The Longest Night of the Year
Join us for a magical night of storytelling, poetry, performance, music, and art as we celebrate our first Hikayat event: Yaldā Night, an ancient winter solstice festival that honors the longest and darkest night of the year celebrated in many countries, including Afghanistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Iran, Iraqi Kurdistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Turkey and Uzbekistan and more.

Featured artists and performers include: Haleh Liza Gafori, Muhammad Ali Mojaradi (founder of Persian Poetics), Amitis Motevalli, Mehrnam Rastegari, Quraishi, Shiraz Fazli, Daro Behroozi and Mani Tehranchi, Levon Kafafian, Fatemeh Kazemi, Huma Aatifi and special guest DJ ALFI.
Get ready to gather, enjoy poetry, see performances, drink and dance the night away!
The event includes an open mic session. To participate, sign up in advance by emailing events@arteeast.org. Your performance should be 3-5 minutes maximum. We encourage all types of performances, by people from all backgrounds, in any and all languages.
