Kirsten Scheid teaches anthropology at the American University of Beirut. She earned her PhD in Anthropology from Princeton University and her BA in Art History from Columbia University. She has conducted field and archival research since 1992 in Lebanon and Palestine focusing on aesthetic movements, intellectual elites, and cultural activism. She recently co-curated The Arab Nude: The Artist as Awakener exhibition at the AUB. Her archival research has contributed to the production of Lebanese and Palestinian artists such as Walid Raad and Mirna Bamieh, as well as her own participation at the New Museum (New York) in Due to Unforeseen Events in 2011. Kirsten is also a consultant and contributor to the MOMA’s Primary Documents Series: Arab Art in the Twentieth Century.
