Greta Torossian (b.1969, Beirut) has been living in Philadelphia, PA since 2010. Greta holds a Diplôme de Photographie (4 year program) from the Holy Spirit University (Kaslik, Lebanon). Her diploma project on the human body seen as the supreme architecture was given the 1st place by the jury. She won 1st Prize in the annual university competition sponsored by Kodak-Lebanon for her project “The Human Object”. Her interest in the human illusions and paradoxes was already evident in that work as she transformed ordinary furniture into human form (without the use of Photoshop). Her project “Beirut 99: Real Visions” shows the paradoxical power of the human being through remains of the war and reconstruction. It has been exhibited in Beirut, France, New York (Aperture Gallery), Houston (Fotofest), The Netherlands (Noorderlicht Photofestival) and in the National Museum of Singapore. It is also showcased on French TV5′s website.
